I hunted with Jim Beresford and his new GooseTrap blind this spring and I'm excited to see a layout blind that really works! First of all I love the fact that everyone's head is covered. I also like the low profile and portability. This blind really compliments my decoys and should be a must have for every waterfowl hunter.

Everybody that knows me is aware that I'm always looking for a better way to hunt ducks and geese. Well, here is a "better mousetrap"! I helped field test a new layout blind this spring that, I think, will solve a lot of problems and be a great tool for goose and duck hunting! This blind is called "The GooseTrap". It provides great concealment and visibility without a facemask. It sports the lowest profile on the market. Designed to eliminate many of the problems associated with ground blinds this low profile “flip-up” style blind literally traps birds into coming too close! No more faces showing no more birds flared. A unique never before achieved roof system features all angle viewing and an integrated rain cover. No roofs blowing back on this unit. A rugged shock cord keeps lid closed....then easily springs open for unobstructed shooting. The lower face netting is Velcro attached so that it can be opened for low light levels, snow, or rain. A 12” high padded chiropractic approved backrest provides shoulder to shoulder support without the aches and pains of traditional “Sling Style” backrests....while a 2" thick foam seat cushion with lower lumbar support ensures your comfort!

The GooseTrap has a zippered “ground bag” made from a waterproof 600 denier polyester material that covers you up to your chin. Not only does it provide concealment this bag keeps you dry and warm. At the foot of the blind is a U shaped zipper to allow easy clean out. Vegetation straps are sewn onto both the cockpit and ground bag for easily attaching natural vegetation and a removable gun flap covers your shotgun on either side.

Use the GooseTrap three ways.
  1. For the hunter that like to wear all white, remove the lid and bag and you have one of the most comfortable padded backrests available. There is a zippered compartment that provides enough room to store all your gear.
  2. If you want maximum face concealment simply attach the lid.
  3. For the hunter that wants to stay dry and warm, take the bag out of the storage area and attach it to the chair.
The backpackable design features two comfortable shoulder straps plus no fumbling with snap-pins in the morning as the lid stays attached between hunts. This blind weighs only 11 lbs and has a very small field profile.
